PLANO 27 Advantages
PLANO 27 Flat Plate Collector

Plano 27 AdvantagesThe advantages of the PLANO 27 Range of flat plate solar collectors compared to other systems are as follows: -

1. Elegant Design –
Aesthetically pleasing to the eye, with its high-quality anthracite finish and it complements beautifully with any architectural style.

2. Ease of Installation –
Installing the lightweight collector is simple, thanks to the new and sturdy fastening profile. The collectors can be connected together so that they overlap like shingles, allowing the best possible use of the available roof space.

3. Installation Position –

The PLANO 27 can be installed either on a pitched roof, flat roof, facade or integrated into the roof and in landscape or portrait formats.

4. Low Maintenance Requirement –
The lower collector edge of the PLANO 27 lies flush with the glass. In this way, no dirt can accumulate and snow slides off easily.

5. High Energy Yield –
Due to the special anti-reflective solar glass and the serpentine piping arrangement of the absorber, the PLANO 27 ensures a particularly high-energy yield. The PLANO 27 is optimised for high yields even at dusk and on sunny wintry days.

6. High Efficiency –
One of the highest efficiency (h0) panels on the market – 78% for the PLANO 27 V & 27 H and 82% for the PLANO 27 VAR.

7. Internal design -
The tubing inside the collector consists of an upper and lower collector line. These lines are connected through a serpentine absorber. In summer when the store is full, the solar fluid in the absorber evaporates. In contrast to other tubing systems, the entire fluid content is rapidly expelled from the absorber. This increases the service life and operational reliability of the entire system.

8. High quality and long service life
The collector casing consists of a stable aluminium frame moulded at three sides (top, right and left side, one piece). The solar glass cover is sealed with a circumferential rubber lining (EPDM) on top and sides, which helps protect absorber and insulation against environmental influences. Snow, rain, and dirt can easily drain off the bottom of the glass, preventing dust and moss build-up.

9. Enhanced Capital Allowance –
The PLANO range have been put forward to be included in the ECA Energy Technology List, so that businesses can offset the capital cost of installing these systems against their taxable profits for the period that the investment has been made.

PLANO 27 - flat plate solar collector
PLAN0 26 cross section

The PLANO 27 is particularly efficient flat plate collector. The highly transparent solar glazing unit always ensures a high level of solar insolation entering the collector. The very efficient copper converts the insolation into heat.

The especially thick 50mm insulation reduces heat losses to a minimum so that all the heat arrives at the thermal store. Especially in the spring and autumn, the PLANO 27 exhibits exceptional heat yields for a flat plate collector.

Quality and Working Life

The most widely available frame collectors on the market are often either glued or riveted at the frame edges. After a few years of operation at high summer temperatures these types of collectors are no longer weather or air tight. This can result in a drop in efficiency and out put.

Consolar has developed a different design for the PLANO 27. The sealed aluminium tray reliably protects the absorber and the insulation against the weather for many years of operation, thereby ensuring a high long term annual energy yield.

New Collector Tubing

The tubes within the PLANO 27 use the newest developments in solar collector research. The solar liquid is forced quickly and completely out of the collector if the collector reaches very high temperatures in summer. This extends the working life of the anti-freeze and the collector.

Environment

The high quality Sunarc Solar glass & Interfloat Astra glass used in the PLANO 27's are applied in an environmentally sensitive process and because of its efficiency produces a particularly high heat yield.

The cheaper black chrome absorbers are considerably less efficient, especially when solar insolation is lowest in the important extended winter season. Their manufacture gives rise to environmentally damaging materials and it requires considerably longer to repay the energy that is necessary for their manufacture than it does for modern laminates.

Flexible Installation

PLANO 27 collectors are available as standing or inclined models. The tray means that the solar thermal system will always look good on your roof. It means that the collector can be installed in or on the roof or on a flat roof and it is almost always possible to find a suitable solution.

Consolar provide a 10 year Guarantee for the PLANO 27.
